Get to know our experts with our "Speed Dating" Q&A! We've asked them some quick, light-hearted questions to give you a glimpse into their personalities, passions, and approach to financial planning. Whether it's what inspires them or their favourite meal, you'll discover why they're dedicated to helping you achieve financial success, plus a few surprises along the way.

What inspired you to work in financial planning, and what do you love most about it?

I had a few financial planning subjects at university which I found interesting. The problem solving aspect of different advice strategies intrigued me. Then when I was in a previous role I was sitting with a financial planner in a client meeting. The client had been made redundant from a job they had held for over 40 years, and were concerned about what they were going to do. The life changing conversation over the next hour, where the adviser was able to reassure them that everything was okay and that they could retire comfortably, made me want to have the same discussions with my own clients.

If you could give your younger self one piece of advice, what would it be?

Stop buying DVDs. In 10 years' time you will only be able to use them as coasters or frisbees!

If you weren't in financial planning, what career would you be in?

I like to cook and we are always entertaining, so I could probably see myself in the food industry running my own restaurant or café.

What's one small financial habit that can make a big difference over time?

The power of a regular investment strategy and compounding interest can have a huge impact on a long term investment strategy or a retirement plan. Even a small amount over the rest of your working life will have a significant increase on your final balance.

What's one meal you could eat every day and never get sick of?

We had it on the weekend. Steak, chips and veggies with a miso mushroom sauce.

If you could have dinner with any three people, living or dead, who would they be?

David Attenborough, Bert Kreischer and Shaquille O'Neal.

What's one thing on your bucket list that you haven't done yet?

I'd love to watch Manchester United play a home game at Old Trafford.

    AFL Grand Final

Grand Final week had us reflecting on what a long footy season and a good financial plan have in common: patience, adjustment, and trusting the process, even through the rough patches. We also marked the occasion with footy colours, a round of trivia between Advisers and Client Services, and a well-earned win for the Advisers team.
