Vostro Gets Behind the Biggest Morning Tea
We laced up our aprons, put the kettle on, and came together for a cause close to many of our hearts.
On Thursday 15 May, the Vostro team gathered for our very own Biggest Morning Tea, the annual Cancer Council fundraiser that brings workplaces across Australia together over baked goods, good company, and a shared purpose.
The idea was simple: put on a spread, invite our colleagues, and raise a little money for an important cause. What we did not anticipate was just how generously everyone would show up.
We set ourselves a goal of $100. Our team smashed it, raising $191 and nearly doubling the target. Every dollar raised goes directly to the Cancer Council to fund research, support services, and prevention programmes for Australians affected by cancer.
Everyone brought something to share, and the table was a testament to how much heart this team has, both in and out of the office.
The morning was filled with homemade treats, plenty of tea and coffee, and the kind of easy laughter that reminds you why a great workplace culture matters. Our colleagues came together not just to enjoy the food, but to show up for something bigger than the day-to-day.
Events like the Biggest Morning Tea are a reminder that small acts of generosity, a plate of biscuits, a few dollars in a jar, add up to something genuinely meaningful. Cancer touches so many families across Australia, and every contribution, no matter the size, helps fund the work needed to change that.
A heartfelt thank you to everyone who brought food, donated, and made the morning such a warm and memorable one. We are already looking forward to next year.
About the Cancer Council
Cancer Council Australia is the country's only charity delivering a comprehensive range of services for all people affected by all cancers, across every state and territory. For decades, they have been working to reduce the impact of cancer through research, prevention, and direct support for those going through one of the most difficult experiences of their lives.
The scale of cancer in Australia is sobering. One Australian is diagnosed with cancer approximately every five minutes, the length of an average tea break. Almost one in two Australians will be impacted by cancer by the age of 85. Behind every one of those statistics is a person, a family, and a community that needs support.
Where your donation goes
Every dollar donated to Cancer Council helps fund four key areas: supporting people affected by cancer, funding world-class research, developing and implementing prevention programmes, and working with government to achieve important policy changes to reduce cancer risk and save lives.
Your dollars at work
- Research. Cancer Council funds world-class cancer research projects across Australia. In 2025, Cancer Council NSW alone awarded $5.8 million in new funding to 13 groundbreaking cancer research projects, paving the way for new ways to treat the disease.
- Support services. Cancer Council provides transport to treatment services, a wig service for those experiencing hair loss, cancer support nurses, and pro bono legal and financial advice for people affected by cancer.
- Prevention programmes. Australia has the highest rates of skin cancer in the world, with skin cancers accounting for around 80% of all cancers diagnosed each year. Cancer Council funds awareness campaigns and education programmes to help Australians protect themselves.
- The 13 11 20 helpline. Cancer Council's 13 11 20 is a free, confidential telephone information and support service. Anyone can call, including cancer patients, their families, carers, friends, teachers, students, and healthcare professionals.
How you can help
There are several ways to support Cancer Council beyond the Biggest Morning Tea. You can make a direct donation online, host your own fundraising event, volunteer your time, or simply spread the word to those around you. All donations over $2 are tax deductible.
If you or someone you know needs support, call Cancer Council on 13 11 20, a free and confidential service available to anyone affected by cancer.
