A few weeks ago, we stepped away from our desks in Melbourne and travelled to Newcastle for our annual Planning Trip.
We went into the planning day with one goal in mind: identifying and eliminating pain points. We reinforced the importance of continuous development within the professional field so we can continue to offer the highest quality of services to the most important person: you! And the most important question is…
How do we serve you even better in 2026 and beyond?
Strategy Before Speed
Our first day was spent at McDonald Jones Stadium reviewing our values, refining our mission, and developing a clear action plan for the year ahead.
In financial advisory, it is easy to become absorbed in daily market updates and compliance changes. Real progress comes from stepping back and asking better questions.
- Are we proactive enough?
- Are we communicating clearly?
- Are we identifying opportunities early?
- Are we helping clients feel confident, not just compliant?
We challenged ourselves, refined our systems, and committed to practical improvements. Your financial future deserves intention, not autopilot.
Lessons from Elite Performance
That weekend, we attended an A-League match featuring the Newcastle Jets and heard from Head Coach Mark Milligan.
“If you don’t challenge people, they get comfortable.
And if they get comfortable, they stop growing.”
The message resonated with us. Growth requires challenge. Progress requires discipline. Long-term success requires consistency.
At times, our role is to keep you steady when markets feel uncertain. At other times, it is to encourage long-term thinking when short-term noise is loud. Occasionally, it is to challenge assumptions so better decisions can be made.
Growth rarely happens inside a comfort zone.
The Surf Lesson
On Sunday, we participated in a group surf lesson. For most of us, it was our first time on a board.
The first wave was intimidating. There were wipeouts. Plenty of them.
But once you stand up, even briefly, something shifts. You realise it is possible.
Managing your finances can feel similar.
- Starting the conversation can feel daunting
- Reviewing structures can feel confronting
- Making changes can feel uncomfortable
Once you face that first wave, clarity replaces uncertainty. With guidance and structure, confidence follows.
What This Means for You
This trip strengthened our strategic focus, communication processes, internal accountability, and long-term planning approach.
Clear strategy. Proactive advice. Calm guidance. Long-term growth.
Building wealth is not about reacting to every wave.
It is about learning how to ride them.
