What inspired you to work in financial planning, and what do you love most about it?
I was drawn to financial planning because I’ve always been interested in helping people make confident, informed decisions about their future, especially as money can be a source of stress or uncertainty for many. What I love most is being able to simplify complex concepts and help clients feel more in control and secure about their future.
If you could give your younger self one piece of financial advice, what would it be?
If I could give my younger self one piece of financial advice, it would be to learn what to do with any small savings early on, whether that’s investing, making additional contributions to super, or setting clear financial goals. Understanding how to put money to work, rather than letting it sit idle, can make a significant difference over the long term. And maybe also buy some bitcoin while you’re at it.
If you weren’t in financial planning, what career would you be in?
If I weren’t in financial planning, I would be a financial crime investigator, diving into complex problems and uncovering hidden patterns. On the lighter side, I’d love to try beekeeping, enjoying the challenge and satisfaction of working closely with nature.
What’s one small financial habit that can make a big difference over time?
One financial habit I will never give up is always looking for discounts, coupons, or cashback opportunities before making a purchase. Over time, these small savings really add up and can make a noticeable difference in reaching bigger financial goals.
What’s one meal you could eat every day and never get sick of?
One meal I could eat every day and never get sick of is sushi. It’s what I miss most when travelling anywhere overseas excluding Japan, though funnily enough, the best sushi I’ve ever had was in Krakow, Poland.
If you could have dinner with any three people, living or dead, who would they be?
Cleopatra, Margaret Atwood, and Frida Kahlo. An incredible mix of history, storytelling, and art, each bringing a unique perspective on creativity and culture.
What’s one thing on your bucket list that you haven’t done yet?
One thing on my bucket list that I haven’t done yet is travel the entire ancient Silk Road, experiencing the incredible history, cultures, and landscapes that connect East and West.
